The collected volume of Alienated has arrived. You’ll find one waiting for you in your local comic store right now — observe all local anti-pox rules, obviously — or on general release within the next week or two. (Let’s make Amazon the outlet of last resort, mmkay? Try elsewhere if you can.)

Excuse naked shillbaggery, but no word of a lie: this book makes a perfect gift. If you think “Heathers by way of Alien” sounds like a blast, for you or the stroppy teen in your life, petition Santa now.

This is one of the most personal, character-led tales I’ve ever written, and my co-creator Chris Wildgoose has elevated, twisted and deepened every beat. What could easily have been a dumb highschool monster story has wound-up as a funny, painful, hopeful, heartbreaking exploration of youth, adulthood and the apathy of the wider world.

We’ve used a bunch of experimental storytelling tricks - props to colorist Andre May and letterer Jim Campbell for carrying us through - but at heart the question this book asks is universally simple:

How far is too far?

Here’s the full blurb…

Eisner Award-nominated writer Simon Spurrier (Sandman Universe, Coda) and acclaimed artist Chris Wildgoose (Batman: Nightwalker) present a subversive coming-of-age story about changing the world - and the lines we'll cross to get everything we want in it.

Three teenagers, each an outcast in their own ways, stumble upon an unearthly entity as it's born. As they bond over this shared secret and the incredible abilities of their new discovery, the trio soon realizes the truth: this creature is dangerous, powerful...and in need of prey.

Guided by the best intentions at first, the teens' decisions soon become corrupted by adolescent desires, small town jealousies, and internal rivalries, sending them into a catastrophic spiral of their own making.

Collects the complete 6-issue series.
